High Noon Solar hosts electric car demostrations

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- Battling painful prices at the pump? One way to beat the pain is to drive a fuel efficient car.

Electric cars may not be completely mainstream yet, but a local company is looking to change that.

High Noon Solar is hosting a discussion about the benefits of driving an e-vehicle this morning.

They'll even show off their own electric car -- a Chevy Volt-- and a Tesla Roadster, and they’ll talk about their fuel saving benefits.

The group has owned its Volt for about a year and a half. It has put close to 10,000 miles on it, and filled it up just four times (excess of 250 miles per gallon).

High Noon recently revealed its new Tesla Roadster. The car won the 2012 Motor Trend Car of the year award, and is credited with encouraging many dealerships for creating their own electric cars.
