RIFLE, Colo. (KKCO) -- Crews in Rifle continue to make progress with the Highway 13 fire on Sunday.
Officials say the majority of firefighting resources would be able to leave after Sunday’s firefighting efforts, and crews are calling it at least 80 percent contained.
About 50 firefighters fought to keep perimeters strong around the 991 acre fire, and just one heavy helicopter was used. Officials say the last part of the fire is in a very steep and rugged section of BLM land.
Crews will continue to work this week to get the rest of it under control.
