RIFLE, Colo. (KKCO)-- The Highway 13 wildfire near Rifle is 80 percent contained, as of Saturday evening.
Authorities have worked hard to keep the 991 acre fire the same size. One hundred and twenty firefighters were supported by helicopters Saturday, with a number of those resources expected to be released Sunday
The last remaining area without containment is in an area with steep and rugged terrain. Crews will continue to fight this area and patrol the perimeter to keep it in check. Authorities want to remind the public that the dry conditions we experienced this summer are still with us, and that caution must be used when dealing with fire.
