Homewardbound temporarily relocates

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. A Grand Valley emergency shelter finds a new home during construction on its main facility.

Until all the renovations are complete, Homewardbound will be operating out of the old Mesa County Workforce Center located at 2897 North Avenue in Grand Junction.

Volunteers helped move everything out of the old facility to the temporary location last Saturday and they are officially up and running.

Homewardboard officials say they are thrilled to be able to offer shelter to the Grand Valley community even during their renovation process of their older building.

“Our mission is obviously to provide services for those in need on a temporary shelter basis for men, single men, and single women, families, and also families with children,” says Douglas Karl of Homewardbound.

The old shelter will be upgrading its restroom facilities and flooring to provide those who need a place to stay a clean, safe environment.

Organizers of Homewardboard only expect to be at their temporary location until the first week of September.
