Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) -- Palisade Fire and Police crews rescued carriage passengers and two horses from a canal Friday afternoon.

The horses and carriage were on the road near G 7/10 Road in Palisade, when they veered off to the side into a canal.

The passengers and one horse were rescued shortly afterward.

Crews had trouble recovering the other horse, so they used a backhoe to build a ramp so the horse could climb up the bank to safety.
