GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and Interstate Highway Construction, Inc. (IHC) started the 1-70 B concrete reconstruction project to improve the highway between 24 ¾ Road through the 25 Road intersection on April 9. The improvement project involves concrete reconstruction, added turn lanes, a new storm sewer system, an updated signal system, and utility relocation. It also involves curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and landscaping. This project is paid for in part by Colorado FASTER.
For the week of Oct. 21, expect to see crews finishing up sidewalk and handicap ramps. Irrigation crews will continue installing main lines from 24 ½ Road to the cast. Electrical crews will be working on street lighting and conduit. Dirt crews will be backfilling curbs and will also be installing an inlet and 24 inch pipe in the southeast corner of 25 Road. Expect single lane closures and intersection delays between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. as crews will be working at night on final roadway pavement markings.
