GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Temperatures in the Grand Valley have been reaching freezing at night.

Although this is below average for this time of year, winterizing your sprinkler systems now will help stop problems in the spring.

To prevent pipes from freezing, experts say it is important to flush all of the water out of your sprinkler system.

The proper tools for this process are an air compressor and adaptor.

After setting up the compressor, irrigation experts say to open each zone's valves and then blow out each zone's system.

The tools cost a couple hundred dollars which is still less than repairing your system if it is not winterized.
