Kids dream up own community
City planning is a big part of every community, and one local elementary school is helping students get involved at an early age by organizing an interactive presentation for second graders and city officials.
Last Friday, Lincoln Orchard Mesa Elementary students drew out city plans and designed their own 3D models of a city as they participated in “Create a Community Day.”
Six city employees worked with them to communicate the importance of land usage and the careful planning that goes along with a growing community.
“Create a Community Day” is an annual presentation for both second and third graders.
