EAGLE CANYON, Utah (KKCO) -- Utah law enforcement have arrested the woman who caused a four-hour standoff on Interstate 70.

The Utah Highway Patrol says the incident started around 8:30 a.m. Thursday near Richfield, where a trooper pulled over a female driver because her plates and the vehicle they were registered to didn't match.

After the trooper stopped behind her, the woman took off in her Chevy Tracker. The trooper followed and called for backup.

As she passed over the Eagle bridge, her tires were spiked, but she still refused to pull over. UHP says about two miles later, a trooper finally performed a PIT maneuver, which spun her vehicle and forced her to stop.

Her vehicle came to a stop at I-70 milemarker 120 near Eagle Canyon.

The woman refused to come out of the vehicle, and she put a gun under her chin when they tried to get her out, UHP says.

Troopers immediately backed off. A hostage negotiator from Moab was called in to talk her down.

Finally, at 12:20 p.m., she gave up. UHP says she was taken into custody without incident after the four-hour standoff.

A trooper says the woman, whose name is not available, has a criminal history and a warrant out for her arrest in the Midwest.

The eastbound lane of I-70 was shut down during the standoff, backing up traffic in the area.
