MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) -- Residents in Fruita, Loma and Mack are out of water after a crew hits a main line.

An Accurate Construction & Excavation crew was working on an irrigation canal lining project when they struck a 12-inch water main. The incident happened around 10 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Pine and Carolina, according to Joe Burtard with Ute Water.

Buildings west of 22 Road suffered from low water pressure or a water outage.

According to the School District 51 website, Fruita Monument High School, Fruita 8-9 School and Rim Rock Elementary had low water pressure temporarily, but no outages as far as they could tell. Water service is back to normal in all three schools.

Burtard says no businesses are without water, but about a dozen homes still don't have water.

Ute Water crews are working to expose the waterline and repair the damage.
