The Lions Club of Grand Junction is marking off yet another successful fundraising season.
On Saturday the service club held its 84th annual Lions Club carnival, raffle and parade.
The parade got underway Saturday afternoon on Main Street where hundreds of residents attended. The raffle followed shortly after as a way to raise money for various non-profits throughout the Valley.
In the event's history, the Lions Club has raised over $4-million to benefit some 300 different groups.
"This year we've earmarked the majority of the funds, about $125,000 to go toward several non-profit organizations and some different projects in the community. Those will include Hilltop, Mesa County Junior Football, GJHS baseball, [and] the Mesa County Health Department," Lions Club member Brad McCloud said.
Proceeds from Saturday's raffle are the sole revenue for these various groups. This year's theme was a circus theme -- Under the Big Top-- to go along with the carnival.
