Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) --- Grand Valley Skating Center will not be open this winter, eliminating the last ice skating facility in the area.
The center was built in late 2011 to be a temporary solution for local ice clubs after Glacier Ice Arena closed down in Junce of 2010.
Now, the already dwindling hockey population of western Colorado, will have to travel elsewhere to get their ice time in.
Glenwood Springs is the closest option right now.
Colorado Mesa's hockey team has been using the Center to practice, and now will have to face another hurdle in order to prepare for their games.
