GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The 2013 legislative session is set to begin in just under a week and local leaders are gearing up for the big year.

From water and infrastructure to school safety and amendment 64, Colorado lawmakers have their work cut out for them, and state Sen. Steve King hopes to take his six years of experience and put it to use for Western Colorado.

"I don't think that you will go very far wrong if you spend 120 days thinking about my kids, your kids, that next generation," said Sen. Steve King (R). "I think that if you think about them, you will actually find that you're doing good for our generation."

The legislature is set to begin the 2013 session on Wednesday, January 9th.
