GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The calendar reads 10/10/10 only one time every hundred years. This week it was a truly special moment for one Grand Junction mom, who gave birth to a perfect 10 son, literally.
As she holds her newborn son Jayden, Lezah Diers says she can't help but smile thinking about how he came into the world.
"It'll make a good story for when he's growing up," says Diers. "I wasn't expecting to have him for a couple more weeks still. So I just took it as a sign."
Jayden was born at 9:50 a.m., or 10 'til 10, on October 10, 2010, or 10/10/10 -- AND was one of 10 babies born on that day at St. Mary's Hospital.
"I was so happy the first time I saw him," said Diers. "I just kept thinking, he's perfect."
And if that wasn't enough, Diers was cleared from the delivery room at, you guessed it, 10:10 a.m.
"I guess it was meant to be," said Diers.
Weighing in at less than 10 pounds, a little more than three to be exact, Jayden has been in the care of the NICU unit since his birth. But mom says he seems to be doing well.
"He's been sleeping most of the time," said Diers. "He just has a little trouble breathing, not much."
She says she can't wait for her perfect 10 baby to come home so they can start their new life together and maybe even reminisce how the number 10 got him on 11 News.
"I'm excited and ready to be a mom," said Diers.
