GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, but a new Hilltop program is doing it's best to change that.

Colorado Heart Healthy Solutions offers free cardiovascular screenings to all adults.

During the screenings, professionals check your blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose levels, body mass index and risk for heart attack or stroke.

"We talk about the ranges where they're at, what their risks are, any referrals, any concerns that they may have," says Hilltop Community Health Worker, Amanda Salinas. "[We] do a little bit of education on their cholesterol, where it's at."

Hilltop recommends all individuals over the age of 18 schedule the free appointment.

To secure a time slot or receive free over-the-phone support, call Colorado Heart Healthy Solutions at (970) 244-0839.
