If you are wishing to register to vote, here is your chance. You may sign up between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at Mesa County Libraries Central Library, 655 N. 1st St. (First Street and Gunnison Avenue) in Grand Junction.

Those who register to vote at the event should bring with them a driver’s license or their official Colorado ID card. Anyone who does not have a driver’s license or state ID card can bring their Social Security card.

The voter registration event is part of National Voter Registration Day, a nationwide effort to encourage people to register and vote in the November election. The local event is a joint effort of Mesa County Libraries and the Hispanic Affairs Project (HAP).

HAP operates in six communities in western Colorado, including Grand Junction, and provides assistance and information to families on issues such as immigration, labor, civil rights, and victim protection, and promotes civic engagement through social integration. Mesa County Libraries operate eight public library locations throughout Mesa County.

National Voter Registration Day has partner organizations across the political spectrum and is a non-partisan event. It is intended to provide a way for Americans of all backgrounds and interests to support the nation’s democratic infrastructure by registering to vote.
