GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – The Mesa County Public Library is having its annual Fall Book Sale on Friday, Oct. 19, and Saturday, Oct. 20. It will be held at the First Congregational Church on 1425 N. 5th St. Friday’s hours are from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday’s hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A special, members-only sale will be on Thursday, Oct. 18 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The members-only sale is $10 for new members. Those with current memberships are admitted without charge.
More than 15,000 used books have been donated by the Grand Junction community for the sale. Most of the books sell for around $1 or $2, and children’s books sell for 25 cents. A collection of more unusual and pricier books have been separated and will be sold from the large collection of books.
The community of Grand Junction has donated $100,000 to the current Central Library Expansion and Improvement Project. All money collected at the sale will be used to fund programs such as the Summer Reading Program; the monthly Poetry Night; furniture for the Teen and Tween Centers; the One Book, One Mesa County program; Spellbinders; and murals in the children’s centers.
