Mesa County invites all equestrians to a schooling show

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Equestrians from all over the Grand Valley came together to get a little practice in before competition season.

The Colorado West Paint Horse Club hosted their first reining schooling show today at the Mesa County fair grounds.

The event goes on from March 22nd to the 23rd, and lets riders show off their tricks and talents in timed runs with no judges.

"We're doing a lot of things in the community as far as the horse equine industry goes and we're looking to bring more people in," says organizer, Ray Stephenson.

Organizers hope the event will attract interested riders into trying out this up and coming discipline.

Along with reining, the colorado west paint horse club plans to create events for riders interested in trail riding, ranch horse versatility, and equestrian youth programs.

With spring right around the corner, riding is an excellent outdoor activity for children and adult to take part in.
