MESA, Colo (KKCO) -- A homicide/suicide is what the coroner says happened in the town of Mesa where two bodies were discovered in a home Thursday.
47 year-old Robert Matile allegedly shot and killed 52 year-old LaVon Hoffman before he turned the gun on himself.
It was just two weeks ago that a violent incident happened between the two that landed Matile in jail.
According to the arrest affidavit from that incident, Matile hit her across the face at least twice and threatened to rape or otherwise harm her family members as she watched.
She told officials she believed that he was very capable of harming her and her family members based on previous violence in their relationship.
Based on court documents Matile had no prior felony charges until two weeks ago.
He was arrested and charged with assault in the third degree and multiple other charges, but he posted bond on Jan. 25.
He did have a restraining order against Hoffman and her family. He was also ordered to wear a GPS monitoring device.
