MONTROSE, Colo. (KKCO) - A man who barricaded himself in a South Townsend Avenue business in Montrose is now in custody.

Our partners at the Montrose Daily Press tell us a domestic violence call went out to police around 3:30 Sunday afternoon.

Authorities responded to 310 South Townsend at an auto repair business on reports that a possibly suicidal man came in.

Multiple law enforcement agencies blocked traffic between South Fifth and South Second Street.

Later on, neighbors and onlookers watched as a special weapons and tactics team approached the business, guns drawn. Over the next hour or so, the sound of tear gas canisters being fired was repeatedly heard.

Finally around 8:30 p.m., police reported a man was in custody.

We'll continue to update this story as we hear more information.
