COLORADO NATIONAL MONUMENT, Colo. A National Park Service report shows 409,352 visitors made their way to the Colorado National Monument in 2013 and spent $24,493,000 in communities near the park.

While that number seems large the National Park Service actually saw a 3% decrease from previous years due to the government shut down and bad weather, but officials have a positive outlook on the future.

According to the 2013 economic analysis, most visitor spending was for lodging, followed by food and beverages, gas and oil, admissions and fees and souvenirs.

That spending supported 325 jobs in the local area.
