GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. There are thousands of ways to celebrate Mother’s Day. Some make cards, others buy gifts, and the Wine Country Inn hosts a special Mother’s Day tea.
Grand Valley families headed down to Palisade for the event and one mother and daughter have even turned it into a tradition.
Since her father passed away in 2006 Debbie Wolchek has been caring for her mother Bev.
Last year they started the tradition of coming to Wine Country Inn to celebrate Mother’s Day.
"She's my Cinderella. She looks after me," Bev said.
Debbie says she has been able to turn to her mother for advice often because she can bring a new perspective to the table. When they were first house hunting, her mother helped ease the process.
"It's very important to make my mom feel special on her day,” Debbie said. “I try to do something fun and creative, something that will honor and bless her."
The two found a home in Parachute soon after and have been making new memories ever since.
They plan to continue their Mother’s Day tradition at Wine Country Inn next year.
"Spend as much time together, at either meal time or weekends or whenever, but spend a lot of quality time together," Bev said.
If you missed out on the event today you'll have another shot for tea at the Wine Country Inn around Christmas.
