MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) -- A former Palisade music teacher accused of sexual assault on a child has entered a guilty plea in Mesa County court.
James Tiner was extradited back to Mesa County from Garfield County after an eight-year-old girl came forward with accusations that he repeatedly assaulted her during her music lessons.
Friday, Tiner pleaded guilty to sexual assault on a child and sexual assault on a child as a pattern of abuse.
The other charges against him were dropped. He's due for sentencing in June.
The FBI, who was searching for Tiner, believed he was in Arkansas, but after seeing media reports about Tiner, residents in Garfield County provided tips to law enforcement that led to his arrest.
