Mesa, Colo. (KKCO) --- After a three year process, almost four miles of the seven mile Mesa Top Trail are about to be finished.
Officials in charge of the construction say this new portion of the trail should be ready for public use as early as July 22nd.
Families, groups, bikers, hikers and even a boy scout troupe went out on Saturday to help out with the project.
"We've been involved with this particular event in terms of marketing getting the word out," says President of Singletrack and Single Tire Sisters, Kristina Kittelson. "As well as coordinating food for the barbecue and getting some swag together for raffle prizes to give out after the barbecue."
Volunteers scraped away at the ground to clear a path and pat down the earth to help create the new, winding trail.
Board members from COPMOBA say that the trail will service almost all riders from beginners to the most experienced.
