GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Colorado Christian University held a ribbon cutting with the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce for their new masters of arts in counseling program on Thursday.
The new program helps train students to deal with depression and other similar issues.
Administrators with the school say it helps fill a void in the community.
"We have a very big shortage of counselors in this community of people who actually come from here," says CCU enrollment director, Robert Booth. "I know one facility in town recently hired 14 or 15 people and only one of them was local because there's really no place that is training up counselors."
