GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- The community has spoken and changes have been made to the splash pad schedule. The downtown water activity on 5th and Main is a popular attraction for families and children.
The DDA and Parks and Rec decided to create an intermittent water schedule this year, where the water would shut off and on throughout the day.
However, the times the fountain would turn off and come back on, were not posted because the intermittent water schedule was sporadic.
Now, after speaking with businesses and the public, officials decided amend the schedule.
“Talking with the DDA and our staff and just taking comments from people in general and decided that maybe we should revise the schedule just a little bit and also at the same time post the hours and let people know when the water will be on and off," said Rob Schoeber, Director at Parks & Rec.
"I think it's a great idea that we know now, at least they posted the hours so we aren't coming down on Main Street and just all of a sudden have nothing to play in. It's a great idea that we know,” said Kym Miller, grandmother who takes grandkids to the splash pad.
The revised splash pad schedule went into effect today and a sign is now in place displaying the operation hours of the splash pad.
