No charges in Delta man’s 'suspicious' death

DELTA, Colo. (KKCO) – District Attorney Dan Hotsenpiller announces no criminal charges will be filed in the “suspicious” death of a Delta man in October.

Chad Koch, 27, died in on Oct. 1, 2012, from acute alcohol and methamphetamine overdose, according to the Delta County Coroner.

At the time of his death, witnesses told KKCO 11 News that Koch was riding his bicycle while trying to escape a car that was chasing him. The chase escalated into a physical fight, after which Koch was found dead, they said.

Koch’s death was ruled an accident, but since the police originally listed it as a “suspicious death,” the District Attorney’s Office continued to investigate a person of interest in the case: Ronald Jackson.

Thursday, the district attorney revealed that evidence from the Delta Police Department fully corroborates Jackson’s version of events, and that forensic evidence shows that Koch’s death was accidental and not caused by Jackson or any other person of interest.

Hotsenpiller said they left no stone unturned and the investigation is complete.
