Off-road mountain biking event in Grand Junction

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Strap on your helmets and grab your bikes, because on Friday off-road biking is taking over the town.

Officials with the event say it will allow us to show off our trail system while giving participants the opportunity to challenge themselves and have a good time doing it.

But it isn't all about the visitors, organizers say It's about the community coming together too.

"We've got a community criterium which will allow the whole community to come out and have a great time," says event manager, Dave Grossman. "We've got pro races, amateur races, beginner races, intermediate races, it's going to be a real extravaganza on our amazing trail system."

Traffic will be shut down downtown between 1st and 5th street from Friday at 5 a.m. to Sunday at 5 p.m.
