FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO) - Three Fruita Police Department officers were involved in a shooting overnight that left one man dead. None of the officers were injured.
According to Mesa County Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman Heather Benjamin, it happened in the 100 Block of Hollyberry just before 1 a.m.
Fruita Police Department Chief Mark Angelo says three officers were involved in what started out as a traffic stop. One man is dead and the officers are uninjured.
Benjamin says a Critical Incident Team (CIT) has been set up to investigate the shooting, which is standard procedure for all officer-involved shootings. The CIT is made up of Sheriff's Office, Grand Junction Police Department, Fruita Police Department and Colorado Bureau of Investigations.
