Options for students who are a little too far to walk to school

Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) --- The school year will be upon us soon and many local parents are already beginning to look into the best way of getting their children to class come August.

District 51 officials are making it easier for students who live within a 2 to 3 mile radius of their schools to obtain bus services.

Parents can sign on to the mesa county school district website and sign their kids up for a pay to ride option, that wont break the bank.

"Just $10 dollars per month and if students qualify for free and reduced lunches, then there's no fee for that," says Director of Safety Security and Transportation for District 51, Tim Leon.

To sign up, parents simply have to register online save the documents and then send them into first student as an e-mail attachment.
