Owner turns in Dutch the Dog

MONTROSE, Colo. (KKCO ) - The owner of Dutch the Dog, Jeremiah Agular, has turned his dog over to Montrose Animal Control.

According to our friends at the Montrose Daily Press, the dog isn't in immediate danger of being put down. Agular's attorney says the hand-over was made to comply with court orders in Aguilar's ownership of a dangerous animal case.

Aguilar is appealing his earlier conviction in Montrose Municipal Court after Dutch bit and severely injured the woman who was taking care of his last November. Aguilar maintains his dog was provoked.

A hearing to set the trial date of Aguilar's appeal is slated for Friday in Montrose Combined Court.
