Palisade, Colo. (KKCO) --- Palisade has gone purple for it's third annual Lavender Festival this weekend.

The event started yesterday with a guided bus tour and ends tomorrow with self-guided agri-tours of twelve different lavender growing locations.

People came in from as far as Singapore for the festival which serves to highlight its local vendors.

"They are all growers of other things, peaches, cherries, vegetable gardens," says President of the Lavender Association, Sunny Howland. "They've chosen lavender as an alternative crop because it grows well here."

Attendees of Saturday's event were treated to lavender cooking and infusing lessons from local chef's and growers.

Over thirty vendors from the area came to showcase and sell their lavender products.
