GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Parking along Main Street for the Annual Parade of Lights is prohibited this year. It was a unanimous vote by City Council Wednesday night to ban parking along Main Street from 3rd to 7th during the annual event.

The Downtown Partnership made this request to the city arguing the parking was a safety issue. Adding that the cars parked along the parade path takes away from the experience of the event. The new parking provisions will be strictly enforced and any car parked along Main Street during the parade will be towed.

Tonight, the council also unanimously approved the operating plan and budget for both the Horizon Drive and Downtown Business Improvement Districts.
