Peyton Manning welcomes travelers through DIA

DENVER (AP) - Travelers passing through Denver International Airport this holiday season will be greeted by the southern drawl of Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning.

The Denver Post reports ( ) Manning's recorded welcome message will play throughout DIA's train system until Jan. 2.

To the tune of a piano playing "Jingle Bells," Manning says "Welcome to the Mile High City. This is quarterback Peyton Manning of the Denver Broncos, wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season."

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock, whose voice normally greets travelers, brought in Manning as a temporary substitute, saying Friday that the quarterback earned the duty "by going long in his efforts to take the Broncos to another AFC West championship."
The recording is part of an audio art installation that DIA officials say is meant to humanize the traveler's experience.
