Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – If you've passed by Lincoln Park during the last month, you may have noticed some big changes happening at the park.

It has been getting a makeover. The loop road that use to split the park has been removed, and now new sod has been laid down where the roads used to be. The old playground has also been removed and has been replaced with a new one that’s friendly to kids of any ability.

The recent changes are part of Phase l and ll of the Lincoln Park redevelopment project.

The city is inviting you to celebrate with them the completion of those phases with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 20. At that time, the new playground will be reopened.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will be followed by the Southwest Arbor Fest. The festival will have activities for kids, free tree seedlings, Arbor Day educational sessions and live entertainment.

The days activities will end at 4 p.m.
