Grand Junction city council elects new leadership

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The City of Grand Junction has a new mayor after the city council unanimously selected Phyllis Norris to serve during the 2014-2015 term.

The reorganization of the council occurs every year and council members are able to nominate one another for the position of mayor, or mayor pro tem.

Norris was nominated by councilmember Jim Doody.

Marty Chazen will once again serve as mayor pro tem after he beat Bennett Boeschenstein in a 4-3 vote.
