FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO) - Various sections of Pine Street in Fruita will be closed between Wildcat Avenue and Aquarius Avenue over the next three months. The first full closure will take place on August 19 and run through September 10, encompassing Pine between Grand Avenue and Carolina Avenue.

The closure is due to construction that will widen the roadway, install sidewalks, and provide a safer transport corridor.

The city of Fruita is hiring Elam Construction to complete the roadway improvements.

Pine Street is the busiest transportation coridor in Fruita and provides critical connections to residential neighborhoods, commercial areas, and schools. Various other sections of Pine will be closed throughout the three months, however efforts are being made to minimize traffic impacts.
