Police arrest Burger King robbery suspect

GRAND JUNCTION, Colol. (KKCO) -- A suspect has been taken into custody in connection with an armed robbery at Burger King Tuesday night.

Deone Tyrone Patterson, 22, was arrested at 29 3/8 Road and Bunting Avenue last night as Grand Junction Police officers searched the area.

He was wearing the clothes that matched the description given by workers at the fast food restaurant. A bag he was carrying held money in denominations similar to what was taken in the robbery, according to police.

Patterson is being held at the Mesa County Jail for charges of first degree kidnapping, aggravated robbery, felony menacing and theft.

Workers say he had locked them in the Burger King freezer before he fled.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- Police are investigating an armed robbery at the Burger King on North Avenue Tuesday night.

Police arrived on the scene just after 8 p.m. Police said the suspect had a gun and forced four employees into a freezer in the back.

The suspect then took off with an undisclosed amount of money, running west behind the restaurant.

Roughly five minutes later, one of the employees was able to get out of the freezer and immediately called 911. No one at the Burger King was hurt.

A K9 unit picked up the robber's trail for a short distance, but the suspect had already escaped.

He is described as a black man wearing a red hoodie, stone washed jeans, tan boots and a red mask. At the time of the robbery, he had a red and black gym bag.
