Powderhorn ski season prep

With less than average snow fall totals last year, some resorts around Colorado are building snow capture fences or adding snow guns to build up the powder.

Powderhorn resort staff say they are not worried about packing that first layer. Sales and Marketing Manager, Gabriella Michna, says they had some of the best snow in the state last year.

However, weather permitting they may start blowing snow mid-November, a week or two earlier than last year.

"So everybody get ready and help us pray for snow because we definitely need it," said Michna.

The mountain will have three new trails this year, two glade trails and one cut trail.

Each weekend they will have live music on the sunset deck, free to guests hitting the slopes.

The resort is scheduled to open on December 13.

For those looking to learn, the resort is offering a new package deal; anyone who purchases three lessons will also get a season pass.
