GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Sponsors now have the opportunity to leave their legacy with the historic Avalon Theatre. The Avalon Theatre Board sat down with the city tonight to discuss naming opportunities for the city-owned theater.
The name of the theater will remain The Avalon, but now donors can put their name on different parts of the theater, such as the lobby, the roof-top terrace or the main theater. Officials on the Avalon Board say it's a great option to present to potential donors.
“There's a certain marketing value, have your company show that they have been supportive of a community project and their name identified so it's a bit of advertising,” said John Halvorson.
The theater is still in it's first phase of restoration and the Avalon Board is actively looking for donations to help complete the project.
Tonight, City Council also discussed parking for the Annual Parade of Lights. The Downtown Partnership is requesting parking along Main Street during the annual event be prohibited. The council will vote on a decision for the matter, at their Wednesday meeting.
