GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- If you're considering signing up for Medicare, there's an important open enrollment event you should know more about this afternoon.

Mesa County RSVP's Senior Health Insurance Assistance Project is holding a free walk-in event today from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the RSVP offices, on the lower level of the U.S. Bank building on White Avenue.

Organizers will be offering free Medicare counseling during this time and through the open enrollment period, which ends Dec. 7.

If you're interested in going today, you're asked to bring a complete list of your prescriptions-- including dosages-- and your current insurance cards.
