GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. It has been more than two weeks since 47 year old Randy Cook was fatally shot just minutes into the new year, but information on the case is still limited.

Officials with the Mesa County Sheriff's Office declined an on camera interview seeking information about how cases like this are handled, but said the case remains sealed by the courts and the investigation is ongoing.

The Mesa County Coroner's Office reported Cook died of a single gunshot wound to the chest and ruled his death a homicide.

He was found dead inside a home at 2846 Unaweep Ave.

The Mesa County Assessor's Office says that home is owned by Joe Hoskins.
