Grand Junction, Colo. (KOCO) - Raw diets aren’t just for people. They can be for pets, too.

A lecture at the Grand Junction Doubletree explained the benefits and concerns of feeding animals raw, organic food instead of processed pet food.

A pet’s health depends on diet as much as vaccines, exercise, or other methods of care, and will prevent long term health problems.

Dr. Aimee Johnson of Creature Comforts Animal Hospital suggests a diet similar to what an animal would eat in the wild. Dr. Johnson does not suggest simply feeding pets raw meat, and those interested in starting their pets on a raw diet should consult a veterinarian first.
