Remembering Grayson Burris

MONTROSE, Colo. Family members and friends of the teen who drowned in the Escalante Canyon potholes honor his memory Tuesday evening.

The entire community came together for Grayson Burris' Memorial Service at the Friendship Hall in Montrose to celebrate the teen's life and final heroic act.

Those who knew Grayson say he was a spirited and compassionate young man and risking his life for his friends is living proof of his selfless nature.
“I don't even have words for how amazing Grayson was and what he did, he'll always be a here to everyone,” says Rosie Rogers, a witness to the pothole rescue.

A memorial fund has been set up by the Montrose County Sheriff’s Department under his name at the Nuvista Credit Union in Montrose.

The Montrose County School District is offering free counseling to students affected by Grayson's sudden passing.

Sessions will be available through Friday from 8 A.M. to 4 P.M. at the Montrose High School Counseling Center.
