SOCO Summer Games returns to the Western Slope

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Special Olympics Colorado has announced that it will return to Colorado Mesa University in the Grand Valley for the 2014 Special Olympics Colorado Summer Games this summer.

The announcement was made today at the Hamilton Recreation Center at CMU where representatives from SOCO came to cheer on athletes participating at the university’s annual Western Area Basketball Championship.

The Summer Games is the largest Special Olympics sporting event of the year in the state. The two-day event will take place from May 31 to Jun. 1 and will bring together Colorado’s top athletes. Sports include track and field, soccer, swimming, gymnastics and powerlifting.
