Sales tax down in Grand Junction
Grand Junction is hoping to see spending pick up over the next few months.
Recent reports show the city saw a decrease in sales tax collected this July when compared to July of 2011.
The city says it collected about $27,000 less this July compared to last. That equates to about a one percent drop.
Despite the dip, this year's year-to-date sales tax collection is about 3.8 percent higher than it was in 2011.
City officials say the election may have something to do with the drop in spending, and they say the Grand Valley typically sees an increase in spending in the fourth quarter.
