MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) -- The Colorado Department of Transportation is taking caution to make sure you stay safe on snow-covered roads.
CDOT has closed Highway 65 from milemarkers 28 to 35 on top of the Grand Mesa due to snow-packed, icy conditions.
According to its website, officials have not yet estimated a time to reopen the road.
Transportation crews fanned out across the Denver metro area to keep the roads open during the storm late last night.
Up to 75 CDOT snowplows were expected to begin working 12-hour shifts on the Front Range overnight as the storm grew worse.
Adding to the stress of the season for holiday travelers, Denver International Airport officials expect delays throughout the day due to blowing snow and low visibility.
