MONTROSE, Colo. The Recreation Center that could be built in Montrose has "Stop the Wreck" group members concerned about the increase in taxes that would affect the whole county.
If approved, residents would see a 0.3% increase in taxes. Members said although the increase might not seem like much, residents struggling to make ends meet can't afford any jump.
Montrose residents will vote on April 1st. Members said if passed, this 25 year tax increase plan will take over $30 million out of the economy and could lead to businesses shutting down.
Members of "Stop the Wreck" said they are for creating a new Rec Center, but they want the money to come from somewhere else.
