Two apartments are at a complete loss and four others are sustaining heavy water damage after a fire breaks out in a Parachute apartment complex.
The Grand Valley Fire Protection District responded to the scene at 854 West Battlement Parkway Building D around 12:14 p.m.
Upon their arrival, apartment unit 204 was completely engulfed in flames, and the fire was spreading into the next apartment. Crews were able to contain the fire with two engines, one ladder and 15 firefighters.
The building was evacuated and there were no injuries in the incident. The cause of fire is still under investigation at this time, and the GVFPD and GarCo Sheriff's officers will remain on scene overnight. The Battlement Mesa Company was able to house all evacuees.
