GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- If you looked up into the sky this evening, you may have noticed the moon looked a little different.

The largest full moon of 2013 lit up the sky tonight. The moon arrived at perigee which is the point in it's orbit bringing it closest to earth and tonight's perigee will be the moon's closest to earth for the year.

The celestial event is commonly defined by some as the "Supermoon."
